Education Scotland are recruiting student review team members

Education Scotland are currently recruiting a number of new Student Team Members (STMs) to take part in the next cycle of reviews. Applicants must be college learners, either currently or within the last three years. On average the role involves around 10 days per year (however can be more or less), which usually includes about 6-8 days for review work and 2 mandatory training days.  STMs are paid £196 per day when out on review and/or attending training.

Since the initial pilot in 2007, Education Scotland has deployed STMs in all external reviews of Scotland’s colleges. STMs are full and valued members of the review teams, contributing to the team’s discussions and evaluations. The feedback from colleges, learners and STMs has consistently been very positive.

Applications should be returned (by email or hard copy) by close of business on 30th January 2015.

The selection process will take place during February 2015 and applicants will be expected to prepare a piece of written work and a presentation prior to the selection event. Applicants will have a panel interview, with the panel consisting of a college principal, an HMI and one current or former STM. Applicants will make a separate presentation to an HMI and an STM.

Applicants are also required to undergo clearance by Disclosure Scotland, as well as providing two references, one of which must be their college principal.
