Call for Proposals
The call for proposals for our national conference taking place on Friday 29th May 2015 is now closed.
The conference is being held at the Edinburgh Conference Centre, Heriot-Watt University. It will include keynote speakers in the field of student engagement and provide an opportunity for delegates to take part in a range of innovative and challenging workshops and presentations, and view a range of poster sessions. The conference hashtag is #sparqs15
We invited proposals from colleges, universities and partner agencies for workshops, presentations and poster/display sessions that showcase and explore current projects, initiatives and research on the development of effective partnership working across our five listed sub-themes:
- Partnership working between students and institutions on curriculum design and delivery.
- Strategic partnerships between students’ associations and their institutions.
- International perspectives on student partnership.
- Student partnership working at the sector/national level.
- Partnerships which recognise the increasing diversity of the student voice.
We were especially keen to encourage student-led contributions and proposals which involve student presenters.
Student Engagement Awards
A new feature of our conference will be a presentation of awards for innovative student engagement work in Scottish colleges and universities.

Keynote Speaker confirmed
We are pleased to confirm that Professor Mary Stuart, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lincoln, has agreed to present a keynote. University of Lincoln has a strong commitment to student partnership and places students at the heart of everything they do; this is reflected in their excellent levels of student satisfaction. They have developed and promote a research-engaged teaching initiative Student as Producer, which positions staff and students as collaborators in the production of knowledge.
