Student Partnership Agreements (SPAs) have been in focus again at colleges and universities recently. Many colleges are considering or already implementing SPAs as part of their work around the Framework for the Development of Strong and Effective College Students’ Associations in Scotland. Universities which have implemented SPAs are now coming to the review process, or considering building them fresh.
Whatever stage institutions are at around SPAs, from exploring them to reviewing them, it can be helpful to speak with other people going through the same processes and dealing with the same issues. With this in mind sparqs held two events in October.

Student Partnership Agreements in Universities Workshop: Review, Renewal, Realisation - Thursday 15th October 2015.
Staff and officers involved in the development or review of SPAs took part in practical workshops designed to identify and address issues around the review or implementation of SPAs in the university setting.

Implementing a Student Partnership Agreement at your college: Action Planning Workshop - Thursday 22nd October 2015.
This event brought together student officers and staff involved in College Framework Working Groups to equip them to lead on SPAs within their institutions. Practical workshops addressed questions around how an SPA could be structured, what it could mean for institutions and how they could be implemented.

Both events were held at the sparqs/NUS Scotland offices in Edinburgh from 2-5pm on their respective days, and were free to attend.
