Class Rep Reference Point Posters - Angus College

5 July 2010

Summary

Posters for classrooms outlining the class rep role.

Background

After consulting the class reps it became clear that they didn't want more paperwork to carry around. This was also true of their lecturers. It therefore decided to design reference point posters for every classroom in Angus College. To truly embed the learner voice and have successful engagement, they have to be ever present. Handbooks are too often shoved in a pile and forgotten about. The posters are a constant reminder of what we are working towards.

Development

The posters were developed after discussions with various learners and lecturers. The Learner Engagement Officer wrote the text, approved by the line manager and the marketing department worked on the design. The whole process took two weeks, with every classroom in the College featuring the posters.

Effectiveness and impact

There is much evidence. In addition to the class reps knowing their role, the rest of the class can also see what we are trying to achieve. The posters also remind the lecturer of their part to play and shows the whole class where everything fits in.
