Student Focus Groups - Inverness College

3 April 2009

During the early part of session 2007-2008, Inverness College revised its quality agenda and identified that there was an inconsistent approach to engaging students in quality processes across the college.

In some teaching departments within schools, students were competently and confidently engaged in discussion and evaluation. In these departments student feedback was analysed and acted upon, with the impact being measured.

However, in other departments students were not represented at course meetings and their views on the student experience were not sought. The College needed to take a whole College approach to engaging students in quality issues, and decided to focus initially on centralising discussion and feedback with students, the plan being to roll it out to all schools in the following year.
