Our new Professional Standards Framework for Student Engagement

sparqs is delighted to announce an important new document that will help articulate the value and impact of student engagement staff posts. Our new Professional standards framework for student engagement is the first such publication to offer a definition of the values, knowledge and activities of student engagement roles.

At a time when student engagement and partnership is being ever more deeply rooted in our sector’s practice and policy, this framework illustrates the increasing importance of professional posts in institutions and students’ associations, dedicated to student engagement. The framework can be used to reflect on and revise the job descriptions or person specifications of such posts, or as the basis of planning professional development activities. Resources on these and other topics to accompany the framework will follow in due course.

Those in other roles, such as teaching, support and management, may also find that the framework can be useful in articulating the student engagement dimensions of their roles.

More about the professional standards framework for student engagement, plus details of the forthcoming accompanying resources, can be found on the framework’s webpage within the staff development section of the sparqs website.

If you have any queries about the resource, please contact Simon Varwell, Senior Development Consultant – simon.varwell@sparqs.ac.uk.
