Launch of sparqs’ practice guide on student engagement in Institution-led Review

During 2015-16 sparqs has been developing a practice guide for Scotland’s universities on engaging students in Institution-led Review, which was launched on 4th May 2016 at the annual Learning and Teaching Conference of The Robert Gordon University (RGU).

It provides materials, case studies and guidance to engage students in the management of the preparation for the review, approaches to research into the student experience, and the response to action points arising from review reports.

The guide has been created in collaboration with the University following close work by sparqs throughout 2015-16 with two institution-led reviews – the 2015 Student-Facing Review of IT Resources and the 2016 Institution-led Subject Review of Gray’s School of Art.

As such, sparqs is pleased to present the guide both at the University’s Learning and Teaching Conference and its Learning Infrastructure Sub-Committee on Wednesday 11th May. It is also grateful to staff and students throughout the University for contributing the development of the resource.

As the Quality Enhancement Framework is currently being reviewed by the sector, this practice guide will be updated in the coming year to accommodate any changes to Institution-led Review. That will also be an opportunity to include new practice and case studies, which sparqs will be glad to hear of from across the university sector.

A short two-page Executive Summary version is also available.
