Learner Transitions – Engineering – Aberdeen

Description

This event, held on Wednesday 25th November 2015 at The Robert Gordon University, enabled students in Aberdeenshire to find out what studying Engineering subjects at university would be like. It gave students a chance to meet lecturers, other students considering the same courses, and find out what’s different and exciting about studying these subjects at university from people who have been there and done it.

The event facilitated dialogue and new links between educators and students from universities, colleges and schools in and around Aberdeen, along with practitioners from Widening Participation networks.

Developed in partnership with The Robert Gordon University, HEA staff networks and local partner organisations such as ACCESS RGU, the event provided a unique supportive environment to share practice and ideas, form new networks and engage with current and prospective students. Learners were supported in exploring their experiences and sharing what they hope and expect this next stage of their education to look like.

You can view the project background information, as well as the draft agenda. The event was the third in a series of four subject-based learner transitions events held as part of a joint project with HEA Scotland. The resulting project resources and evaluation will be available on the sparqs website in due course.  The event hashtag, for use on Twitter was #LearnerTransitions

The event was free to attend, beginning at 4.30pm (registration from 4.00pm) and finishing by 6.20pm.  Refreshments were kindly provided by The Robert Gordon University.
