New induction guide for academic representation co-ordinators

sparqs has published a new resource to support new members of staff in academic representation and student engagement roles.

Our induction guide for Academic Representation Co-ordinators is aimed at new colleagues within students’ associations or institutions who have responsibilities relating to student engagement, academic representation, staff-student partnership and other related roles in Scotland. It covers key information about our sector, models and frameworks of student engagement, the work of sparqs, and the major events and processes that are key to our work.

Many such post-holders enter the world of student engagement from other sectors or backgrounds, and so this new publication can be a support to those practitioners who are new to tertiary education or students’ associations.

Drawing on sparqs’ Professional Standards Framework for Student Engagement (PSFSE), the new guide also highlights the key role of our Student Engagement Staff Network (SESN) as a forum for learning and sharing. It is one of many recent innovations to support the professionalisation of student engagement including our recently launched buddy scheme for SESN.

Other accompanying resources to the PSFSE will be published in due course.
