sparqs work in Enhancement Themes

This article highlights the main activities that sparqs, in partnership with QAA, are doing to support student involvement in Enhancement Themes.

sparqs presented an exciting workshop on the newly launched Student Engagement Framework for Scotland, at the 10th International Enhancement Themes conference, 11th -13th June 2013. The workshop was developed to challenge participants’ ideas of student engagement in their institutions and beyond, backed up with tangible solutions and tools to empower students and institutions alike to engage more.

There was also an exciting plenary session on ‘Student Engagement in Higher Education’, with a panel involving Liam Burns, NUS President, and Johan Gardebo, a student from Uppsala University Sweden.

Also during the Enhancement Themes conference the 3rd meeting of the Enhancement Themes Student Network, for this academic year, took place, giving a chance for outgoing and incoming student officers to meet and discuss their involvement with ‘Developing and Supporting the Curriculum’ this year and their hopes for the coming academic year.

sparqs is currently in discussion with QAA about the many other opportunities for students to be best involved in the future work of Enhancement Themes and we look forward to some of those ideas being taken forward, to continually increase the number of students participating in Enhancement Themes activity, across Scotland.
