Celebrating Student Engagement in Scotland - sparqs Parliamentary event

Our parliamentary reception on 11th December 2012 provided an important opportunity for all those working in the field of student engagement to come together to celebrate the progress Scotland has made over the last 10 years. Our celebration report provides the evidence of these successes, giving an overview of the many important aspects of student engagement that students and staff have been working on, helping ensure students are central to the success of our colleges and universities. The event will also be an important opportunity to publicise these successes to a wider audience. As well as reflecting back on the progress we have made, the new strategic plan for sparqs will outline how sparqs will help the sector look to the future, to build on those successes and help ensure Scotland leads the world in this field.

These two publications will be underpinned by our Framework for Student Engagement in Scotland. The Framework, developed following an extensive research project and endorsed by key sector agencies, helps to clarify the approach to student engagement in Scotland, providing a context for reflection and celebration whilst encouraging us to identify new challenges. It will form the basis for a new web resource that will collect practices, research and tools relating to student engagement and help all of us in the sector develop our thinking and approaches within a more widely understood context.
