College Student Leadership training - 8th/9th July 2014

Bookings are now open for our College Student Leadership programme, taking place on 8th/9th July 2014 at University of Strathclyde in Glasgow.

This is a new course delivered by NUS Scotland and sparqs for College officers in Scotland, replacing last year’s Supporting College Student Governors training.

Register here: http://www.nusconnect.org.uk/ents/event/1032/

Audience: This course is for College Presidents and Vice Presidents. No college will be able to send more than four officers to this event.

This training is an opportunity for newly elected officers from around Scotland to come together to learn more about their role and plan for the year ahead. The core focus of the course is in developing officer’s skills to be able to effectively represent and engage with their students on campus. The training will include sessions focusing on areas such as effective representation, leadership, engaging the student body, public speaking and decision making.

The training will also give officers the opportunity to learn about the education system within Scotland’s colleges and explore how they can support students to effectively engage and enhance their educational experience. This two day course will allow college officers from around Scotland to get to know each other and develop useful networks for the year ahead.

This course will be complemented by a day long event later in the summer for student Board members. This training will explore how students can act as effective representatives to the College Board, understanding the responsibilities and role of the Board and how to work as a member of the Board team.
