sparqs' Course Rep Training co-ordinators’ network – past events and future plans

sparqs recently held the last of this academic year’s three events for Course Rep Training co-ordinators, with the April 2016 meeting focusing on redeveloping Course Rep Training materials for the coming academic year. The day was a chance to explore and provide feedback on a range of development tools created by sparqs, and hear an excellent presentation from the University of Stirling Students’ Union on their development of online Course Rep Training.

In 2016-17, sparqs plans to broaden this network out to academic representation co-ordinators more generally, allowing for a range of work across all levels of representation and different engagement activities to be included. Our April event was a useful chance to receive ideas for potential topics at future events, and among the major themes identified were postgraduate representation, accreditation, support for senior rep posts, and working in partnership with teaching staff.

More information on next year’s new-look series of events will be on our website soon. However, the network will continue to be a useful networking and learning opportunity for academic representation practitioners in universities and colleges.

Links to materials from past course rep training co-ordinators’ network events are accessible on our Enhancing course rep activities webpage.
