Over the summer we held our annual induction events for college and university student officers. The focus of both events was how to use quality to enhance students’ learning and teaching experience.
That’s Quality Universities took place on 12th and 13th of July 2016 at West Park Conference Centre in Dundee. We welcomed over 20 delegates from 11 universities across Scotland. The two-day event included sessions on the changes affecting the quality landscape in Scotland, such as the review of the Quality Enhancement Framework (QEF) and the development of the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF), and practical workshops on how to use quality tools to make change for students. We were also joined by representatives from the Scottish Funding Council, QAA Scotland, and NUS Scotland to discuss the importance of student engagement in quality enhancement.
That’s Quality Colleges took place on 10th August 2016 at the College Development Network in Stirling. There were over 30 delegates from 16 colleges, as well as guest speakers from colleges, Education Scotland, Scottish Funding Council and NUS Scotland. There was a packed agenda, with sessions including the new external review process in colleges and the Student Satisfaction and Engagement Survey, as well as Outcome Agreements and Student Partnership Agreements. We also had fantastic presentations from City of Glasgow College and Edinburgh College on projects being undertaken at their colleges that are working to increase student engagement in college self-evaluation.
It was fantastic to meet so many enthusiastic new and returning student officers at the events. We look forward to working with you all in the year ahead!
