sparqs' Course Rep Training... are you reaching your Apprentices and senior phase school pupils?

A reminder that bookings are open for sparqs Course Rep Training during 2019-20 and also a reminder about the support sparqs can provide in developing and delivering training for a range of student groups.

We have a range of Course Rep Training (CRT) products, some of which are available for delivery by sparqs Associate Trainers, and some of which are designed for institutions to deliver themselves, with support from sparqs if required.

CRT delivered by sparqs

The main CRT products available for delivery by sparqs include our Introductory training; training for students with supported education needs; training for Apprentice reps; and training for senior phase school pupils in college.

Any colleges wishing to develop their training for Apprentice reps and senior phase school pupils, please get in touch to discuss how we can support you and tailor the training to meet your needs. If you request training for either of these student groups, we will be in touch to discuss your requirements before confirming dates.

We have previously worked with colleges to tailor our apprentice materials to meet their specific needs and help develop their apprentice rep schemes. We are keen to work with any other colleges looking to develop their training for apprentices.

Our training for senior phase school pupils studying at college is a new CRT product as of 2019-20. The training is aimed at newly elected pupil reps who have not attended training before. It aims to develop confidence in their role, as being a pupil rep for the first time can be a daunting prospect.  It is also possible for us to adapt the training to be delivered to groups of pupil reps to introduce the importance of the student voice within colleges and to encourage them to participate in a range of feedback and partnership activities. Work to engage pupils is a developing area and colleges will be addressing capturing these learner voices in different ways.

In addition, we work with schools, on a consultative basis, to help them develop capacity of pupil councils.  This training is booked offline with participating schools.

Materials available for in-house delivery

We also have CRT products developed for in-house delivery, including materials for taught postgraduate reps; materials for ESOL students; and introductory training translated into Gaelic.
