That's Quality! 2020 events roundup!

Over the Summer we held our annual induction events for college and university student officers. The focus of both events was the impact of COVID-19 on the quality landscape for education officers. It was fantastic to have so many enthusiastic new and returning student officers attend the online training and we look forward to working with you all, in what will undoubtedly be a challenging year for us all.

Read on for a summary of both events and to access the resources from the days....

That’s Quality! Universities - #TQ20uni - took place online on Monday 13th and Friday 14th July 2020, via Zoom. We welcomed 40 delegates from 15 universities across Scotland. The event included sessions on engaging students online, the quality landscape, and partnership in action. We were also pleased to be joined by sector agency colleagues: Ailsa Crum from Quality Assurance Agency Scotland, Matt Crilly from NUS Scotland, Catriona Bell from Advance HE, Derek Horsburgh from the Scottish Funding Council, and Aoife Keenan from Universities Scotland – who took part in a lively panel Q&A session introducing their agencies to the student officers.

That’s Quality! Colleges - #TQ20college - took place online on Thursday 13th and Friday 14th August 2020, via Zoom. We welcomed 43 delegates from across 15 colleges. During the two days we had sessions on the quality landscape, engaging students online, and the Scottish Funding Council review. We were also delighted to be joined by colleagues from our partner agencies: Keith Coyne from the Scottish Funding Council, Margaret Rose Livingstone from Education Scotland, Matt Crilly from NUS Scotland, Jim Metcalfe from the College Development Network and Mark McCahill from Colleges Scotland; all of whom took part in an engaging Q&A panel session introducing their agencies to the student officers.

Following a successful pilot last year, we again included a mandatory online module that was sent to participants to complete in advance of the training events. The modules provided essential background information on the impact of COVID-19 on quality and the Scottish college and university sectors.
