European Project, QUEST, invites sparqs

sparqs has been invited to participate in an exciting European project that will look at the student concept of quality of higher education. Funded by the European Commission and led by the European Students’ Union (ESU), the QUEST (Quest for Quality by Students) project will run from October 2010 until May 2013.

ESU will begin the project by carrying out a pan-European survey of students to find out how they define quality of higher education and what is important to them, in terms of quality and information provision. The survey will be done in tandem to desk research. This research will compare how existing quality frameworks enhance and assure quality and how these processes transmit information back to students, especially in relation to the European Standards and Guidelines (ESG).

Following on, sparqs will run a series of workshops for ESU’s student expert pool. The workshops will develop the skills and knowledge of the student experts to enable them to deliver workshops and training themselves within their own country on quality of higher education.

sparqs will also be involved in the development of a student quality kit which will be created on the basis of the student quality concept, the work of the student experts and best practice examples from student organisations and higher education institutions on how to get involved in quality assurance/enhancement.

The project is in its infancy therefore further information will be available via the sparqs website in the coming months.
