Course Rep Training - planning for 2022-23

We have recently emailed Course Rep Training Co-ordinators to ask Scottish institutions about their plans for delivering Course Rep Training (CRT) in 2022-23.

In the majority of cases, Introductory CRT is delivered in one of the following ways. Most of these follow a two-part model – an online self-study module followed by a session with a trainer.

  1. sparqs' CRT – training delivered to an institution's reps by sparqs' Associate Trainers (ATs).
  2. An IAT scheme – training delivered by Institutional Associate Trainers (IATs) who have been trained by sparqs.
  3. In-house delivery by institutions (using their own rep training package, possibly based on sparqs' materials).

More details on the above options can be found in our CRT options and support document, which was circulated with the recent comms. We’d really appreciate prompt responses about institutional plans, in order to help us plan our own support for these varied needs across the sector, and flag any important dates/deadlines to relevant institutions.

  1. If sparqs delivers your CRT, your reply will help us to recruit and train the required number of sparqs Associate Trainers (ATs) – recruitment is currently open!
  2. In the case of the IAT Scheme, you will need to recruit your in-house trainers soon. They can be students or staff and should attend our residential training event between 23rd-26th August 2022.
  3. If you use your own CRT materials, you can request to view sparqs’ materials for 2022-23, to help you prepare/update your in-house materials.

Visit our main CRT webpage for further details, including information about our wider range of CRT products and materials.

For further information on any of the above and to discuss your options for 2022-23 (particularly if you are considering a different model for your CRT in the year ahead), please contact Nicola Cameron, Business Manager – nicola.cameron@sparqs.ac.uk.
