College student board member training, 1st & 2nd September 2022

Training for student members of college boards of management will be delivered online on the mornings of Thursday 1st and Friday 2nd September 2022.  There's still time to register - please sign up ASAP if you would like to attend!

Boards of management, as colleges’ governing bodies, are vital forums for the strategic shaping of partnership between students and students’ associations and their colleges and boards. As such, the College Development Network (CDN), with support from sparqs and NUS Charity through the Developing College Students’ Associations project, leads this annual event to ensure that student members are equipped for their year ahead of board membership.

Complementing CDN’s existing governance resources which are available to all board members, this specific training for new student members will give an overview of college governance from a student perspective, explore the interaction of students’ associations and boards, look at current issues in the college sector, and provide training in building effective relationships with key board colleagues. The event will conclude with a panel involving a college principal, a chair and secretary from a college board, and a returning student board member all sharing their wisdom and experiences.

Bookings are now open via the CDN website, and we encourage all college student board members to attend, and board secretaries and students’ association staff members to support their attendance.
