HEA Fellowships in sparqs

We are delighted that our colleague, Simon Varwell, has recently been awarded the status of Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (PFHEA). The fellowships, run by Advance HE, are internationally recognised levels of accreditation for individual professionals who work in the support of learning and teaching in higher education.

Simon’s award makes him the first member of sparqs staff to receive an HEA fellowship, and sparqs is now supporting other colleagues in the team to gain fellowships. sparqs also regularly promotes the fellowships to those in student engagement roles across our sector, including through our Student Engagement Staff Network (SESN)

The embedding of HEA fellowships as part of sparqs’ professional development approach will benefit colleagues in the sparqs team by helping them to reflect on their impact, strengthen sparqs’ support to institutional learning enhancement activity, as well as demonstrate to our stakeholders and the wider sector the importance of student engagement practice in effective learning and teaching.

You can find out more about HEA Fellowships on the Advance HE website.

Our congratulations to Simon, from the rest of the sparqs' team!
