Creating and reviewing student engagement roles: launching our new resource!

sparqs is pleased to publish a new resource, Creating and reviewing student engagement roles, to accompany the Professional Standards Framework for Student Engagement (PSFSE). The new resource is designed to support those seeking to create and review posts relating to student engagement in quality.

With increasing emphasis in our sector on the student role in enhancing learning, and a strengthening of the professionalisation of student engagement roles, this timely new resource will enable those who are managing and recruiting student engagement practitioners to draw upon the PSFSE to create clear job profiles.

The resource outlines the PSFSE and the various types of student engagement role found in our sector, then offers approaches for building on the values, knowledge and activities in the framework to shape person specifications and job descriptions. It also includes a number of example job descriptions from across the sector, as well as guidance on how sparqs can support recruitment, including through our student engagement jobs board.

This is the second resource accompanying the PSFSE, following our Induction guide for Academic Representation Co-ordinators published in February 2023. We are working with the sector and student engagement practitioners to identify further resources to support the use of the PSFSE.
