sparqs Residential Training event - staff attendance

We have recently had enquiries from a few institutions asking if staff can attend this year’s sparqs Residential Training event (our annual event training sparqs and institutional student trainers to deliver Course Rep Training). We recognise that there has been considerable change in the sector that has affected Course Rep Training, including the new Student Learning Experience model. Staff who plan to deliver Course Rep Training in-house during 2025-26 are therefore welcome to attend the summer 2025 residential training event and this year we can subsidise places for staff alongside student places.  This is not a permanent change, and we may have to review again in subsequent years.

The training takes place from Tuesday 26th to Friday 29th August 2025. The first 3 days (Tuesday to Thursday) will be held at Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh and participants will return home at the end of Thursday to complete the final day (Friday), on Zoom. The aim of the event is to equip you with the skills, knowledge and capability to be able to deliver and facilitate Course Representative Training.

To qualify for the subsidy, we ask that you add a few questions into your CRT evaluations and send us your data at the end of the academic year.  We use this data as part of our reporting on the effectiveness of sparqs’ support for Course Rep Training.  You will be asked to pay the fee for the event (£250) when you register but this will be fully refunded later in the year once you have sent us this data.

Places are extremely limited, so if you would like to book a place, please contact Nicola Cameron, Business Manager - nicola.cameron@sparqs.ac.uk as soon as possible.

See our Introductory Course Rep Training webpage for more information on the CRT delivery options available to institutions.
