We are very pleased to confirm the appointment of Rob McDermott as the College Co-Chair of sparqs’ Tertiary Advisory Group (STAG).
Rob, who is Head of Quality, Teaching and Enhancement at Forth Valley College, has been undertaking the role on an interim basis following Ann Baxter stepping down as Co-Chair in May 2025. This appointment follows a recruitment process informed by input from STAG members and the University Co-Chair.
The appointment reflects the strong leadership Rob has already brought to STAG, alongside his significant experience and knowledge of the college sector. He has played an important role in supporting and leading the group during his time in the interim position, and in promoting sparqs’ work across the sector.
We are delighted to confirm Rob in the role and look forward to continuing to build on the work of STAG. Rob will work alongside Professor Tina Harrison, Deputy Vice-Principal Students (Engagement) at the University of Edinburgh, who continues as University Co-Chair, supporting STAG’s role in shaping sparqs’ work across Scotland’s tertiary sector.
