Image of Scotland's Ambition for Student Partnership

This resource is a podcast which captures the approaches that Edinburgh Napier University (ENU) took to using the sparqs Scotland’s Ambition for Student Partnership resource as a foundation for undertaking a strategic review of student partnership initiatives their institution, and aligning this with preparation for their forthcoming Tertiary Quality Enhancement Review (TQER) visit.

The podcast covers key points:

  • The background to ENU’s strategic review of student partnership initiatives and links with concurrent development of their new Student Partnership Agreement (SPA).
  • Elements of Scotland’s Ambition for Student Partnership resource they found to be particularly useful.
  • How they got started with desk-based mapping before embedding a co-creation approach with their Students’ Association.
  • Co-creation of a RAG (red, amber, green) rated ‘Indicators of Practice’ strategic output for ENU, which identified shared priority areas of focus around student partnership.
  • Examples of how their Students’ Association engaged ENU students in strategic review activities (e.g. using Mentimeter).
  • Anticipated links with their Tertiary Quality Enhancement Review (TQER) visit.

Possible suggestions for using this resource:

  • As a catalyst for discussion ‘in advance of’ or ‘during’ strategy development activities (for Boards and/or senior management teams in tertiary institutions).
  • As a catalyst for group discussion during staff development sessions.
  • As a self-directed reflective tool for colleagues to engage with on an individual basis.
