Description
Our Student Engagement Staff Network (SESN) had a short meeting on Thursday 1st October, by Zoom, to allow for an informal catch-up. The session began with a very short update from sparqs on the latest developments and priorities in its work, with some questions to spark discussion. However, the majority of the meeting was free for practitioners to share their experiences, challenges and successes as we all continue to support student engagement at the start of the new academic year.

The event began at 3.00pm and finished at 4.30pm, and was free to join.
Although numbers were not constrained by venue size, delegates were required to register, so that we could track numbers and keep the event secure. As usual, the event was aimed at staff from institutions or students’ associations in Scotland with student engagement or academic representation responsibilities.

Online meeting security
The meeting was run using Microsoft Teams, with the following security process:
Simply copy and paste the link you receive in your joining instructions directly into your browser. The link is not available on social media or our website and is sent by email only to those who have registered for the event. To ensure only those who have registered join the meeting, we ask that you do not share the link with anyone. You will be asked to input a password to join the meeting. When you join, you will go to a “waiting room”, a member of sparqs staff will then admit only those who have registered. If the identity of a person is not known, they will not be admitted, so please enter your name as the name you registered to attend.
