After two years of online meetings, sparqs is delighted to announce a combined in-person meeting of its Joint Advisory Group (JAG), National Education Officers’ Network (NEON) and Student Engagement Staff Network (SESN). This will take place on Wednesday 11th May 2022 at Glasgow Caledonian University. The event will be rounded off with a drinks reception by way of thanking attendees for their contributions and support during recent times.
The meeting will be mainly workshop-based, with the theme of “looking back, looking forward”, and will allow members of JAG, NEON and SESN to reflect on student engagement and the work of sparqs in the past year or so, and help shape our work for the coming year in the light of the current challenges and opportunities in the sector.
The Joint Advisory Group, itself a combination of sparqs’ University and College Advisory Groups, is a sounding board and discussion forum that draws together invited staff and students from across our colleges, universities, students’ associations and sector agencies to shape sparqs’ work. NEON is our network for students’ association education officers, while SESN is our professional network for staff in student engagement and academic representation roles. All three forums have met online since March 2020. This event in May will be an opportunity to meet face-to-face, explore our experiences of the pandemic across the three groups, and develop a shared sense of the next steps for student engagement in the sector in 2022-23.
Members of JAG, and those staff and students who attend NEON and SESN, are warmly welcomed to this important and exciting in-person event.
