Call for proposals

The call for proposals for our 2019 conference is now open.... from 2nd August until 5th October 2018.

The conference is aimed at students, managers and practitioners in colleges, universities and other post-16 providers and we welcome proposals from each of these groups. We particularly welcome proposals which have been developed as a partnership between delegates from across these groups and/or demonstrate inter-institutional collaboration.

We welcome proposals that are related to practice as well as strategies and policy making. Our focus is on creating a cohesive agenda around the overarching theme, ‘Student Engagement for All', allowing delegates to showcase work, share expertise and learn from good practice.

Proposals should support one of the following five sub-themes:

  • Engaging the diversity of students.
  • Student engagement and co-creation of the curriculum.
  • Demonstrating impact and addressing institutional and national priorities.
  • Engagement throughout the learner journey.
  • Building capacity.

For further information on each of the above, please refer to the conference sub-themes in detail document.

Proposals are invited in the following formats:

30 minutes are allocated to presentations, with time for around 5 minutes for Q&A.

75 minutes are allocated to workshops. These should be participatory and enable delegates to discuss and debate issues.

Posters and displays:

Poster/display sessions provide opportunities for presentation of innovative developments and practice, and enable face-to-face discussion. They will take place during lunch and the morning and afternoon breaks. Poster proposals should be no larger than A0 size in portrait orientation.

Submitting proposals

The deadline for submitting proposals is Friday 5th October 2018.

We hope to be in a position to notify successful proposers shortly after that date. If you are accepted to deliver a presentation or workshop you will be required to submit the full presentation to us by the end of Thursday 14th March 2019.

All proposals should be submitted by completing the template accessed via the following link:  (please view our Privacy Policy for details of how we collect and use your personal information).

You may submit more than one proposal but you are not permitted to submit the same proposal under multiple sub-themes. Your abstract must not exceed 250 words.
