The Scottish Funding Council (SFC) has released guidance on the quality arrangements for colleges and universities from 2024-25 – 2030-31. You can view the guidance on the SFC’s newly updated Learning and Quality webpages.
The guidance provides information on how the new approach will work and will also explain students’ roles and responsibilities within it.
The release of the new quality guidance is an important part of Scotland’s Tertiary Quality Enhancement Framework (TQEF) and a step towards fully introducing Scotland’s new approach to quality assurance and enhancement from the beginning of 2024-25. The TQEF brings together college and university quality assurance and enhancement into a single framework, with student engagement and partnership as a central and underpinning principle.
SFC has worked closely with its Tertiary Quality Steering Group (co-chaired by the NUS President), colleges, universities, sector agencies and students to develop the TQEF. sparqs’ Tertiary Quality Student Expert Group has played a role in this, supporting the development of key student engagement aspects of the guidance. We look forward to continuing the Student Expert Group in 2024-25.
To support students’ understanding and engagement with the quality guidance, SFC has developed a range of resources, including a Frequently Asked Questions webpage and they have also produced a short video, which will be released shortly, to help students and staff learn more about the framework.
