We are pleased to launch a new online and blended learning resource on best practices for a successful student induction, aimed at supporting sabbatical officers to reflect on induction activities and resources available to students in the context of online and blended learning.
This brief guide features one of the reflective questions of the re-designed Student Learning Experience model as an initial self-evaluation activity, followed by a list of ten best practice examples for a successful online/blended learning experience. The resource can be used as a conversation starter for officers to work in partnership with their institution to enhance the student experience.
The content of the resource is based on the views of students, collected during workshops and network meetings which sparqs hosted during 2022-23 and 2023-24, and it is available in the sparqs Resource Library.
The guide was developed as part of a set of outcomes of the Tertiary Enhancement Topic project, which ran for two academic years from 2022 to 2024. The project report highlights the whole range of activities carried out by the four agencies involved in it: QAA Scotland, sparqs, College Development Network and Education Scotland. In addition, sparqs previously published a reflective questions resource to support students’ online and blended learner journeys.
