A reminder about our 2024-25 SESN meetings and NEON plans....
.
SESN (Student Engagement Staff Network)
The next two SESN dates for this academic year have already been set and the November meeting is now open for bookings:
- Thursday 28th November 2024 – online, 10.00am-1.00pm
- see the event booking page to register to attend. - Tuesday 4th February 2025 – online, 10.00am-1.00pm
- will be opened for bookings nearer the time.
Please make sure you save the dates in your diary!
As in previous years, we also plan to hold a final, joint, in-person meeting with NEON and JAG (our Joint Advisory Group) in May 2025.
SESN is a great way to keep in touch with colleagues working in similar roles in other Scottish institutions and students’ associations, and also to discuss latest updates from the sector. We are also keen to learn more about what practices you implement in your role and institution, so if you would like to share examples of student engagement activities, best practice, or suggest other topics for SESN meetings, please let us know by emailing Gloria at gloria.laurini@sparqs.ac.uk.
The network is open for staff in universities and colleges with student engagement and academic representation development roles. You can keep in touch with the whole network by signing up to the SESN Jiscmail.
.
NEON (National Education Officers' Network)
Whether you are a returning officer or a newly elected one, please make sure you sign up for NEON, our network open to education and representation elected officers in universities and colleges, who have a remit in academic representation and education.
We are currently making plans for our 2024-25 NEON meetings and dates will be advertised soon! There will be three online meetings, taking place on Zoom, from 10.00am to 1.00pm, and a final, joint, in-person meeting with SESN and JAG (our Joint Advisory Group) in May 2025.
As noted in a previous article, after the success of sparqs’ Tertiary Quality Student Expert Group last academic year, we carried out a review of the purpose of the network, also considering the latest changes in the sector. We want to ensure that officers have access to ongoing training and support throughout the year, therefore the next NEON meetings will focus on officers’ development, building on what you have already learnt during That's Quality! and ensuring that you are further equipped in engaging with the new review method.
You can keep in touch with the whole network by signing up to the NEON Jiscmail.
Keep an eye on the Jiscmail and our news articles/website for the NEON dates coming soon!
